I am a documentary filmmaker currently based in Tbilisi, Georgia.
My passion for filmmaking began at the age of 13 when I received my first video camera and taught myself how to film and edit. Over time, my equipment changed and my experience increased, but my passion remained the same: I always loved to play and interact creatively with reality in my films.
Through my working experience and my film studies, I became familiar with the most important professions related to documentary filmmaking. My film education was not a specialization in only one field but rather covered an all-round approach. As such, I have working experiences as a boom operator, unit manager, production assistant, location scout, assistant director, field recording mixer, assistant editor, screenwriter, director, cinematographer and editor in my own and in commissioned film projects.
My strength as a cinematographer lies in my skills of observation and intuition, which are very helpful in hectic moments and when it is necessary to capture people or events without knowing exactly what will happen next.
In all of my film projects, I attach the greatest importance to high-quality sound recording for capturing the original atmospheres and dialogue directly on the spot.
As a director, I’m particularly interested in exciting and unusual characters and topics. My narrative style is mostly very personal, but it does not discourage audiences from forming their own conclusions and opinions from my work.
During the editing process I apply my strong understanding of film rhythm and release my full creativity while combining moving images, sounds and emotions with one another to create my filmic stories.
